Professional Experience

Florida State University Dept. of Art, Graduate Assistant, 2005 to present
For the 2006-07 and 2007-08 academic years I have been awarded graduate teaching assistantships, which include teaching two sections of Photographic and Digital Imagemaking in Fall 2006 and Web Design I in Spring, Summer, Fall 2007 and Spring 2008. In the 2005-06 academic year, I received a graduate technical assistantship that entailed photographic and web work to aid in marketing and promotional efforts for the Department of Art and the College of Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance, including developing a web site to showcase the students in the MFA program: www.art.fsu.edu/lga.

As a self-employed freelance photographer and videographer in Tallahassee, Florida and previously Chapel Hill, North Carolina, I have produced an extensive portfolio of work.  My photography experience includes: individual and group portraits; modeling/headshot cards; photographs of artwork; dance and theater documentation as well as performance collaboration; and commercial advertising, brochure, catalog, and web images for a variety of businesses, universities, non-profits, and government entities.  My video work includes: producing, directing, and filming television shows; filming public health videos; and documenting events, lectures, and performances. Carolina Cooking, Director, 2004 to 2005
Produced by Guerrilla Productions of Raleigh, North Carolina, this daily syndicated television show airs on thirteen stations in major markets throughout the southeast.  As director, my role included: setting up the lighting for the show, guiding four camerapersons via headsets during taping, and operating the video switcher and audio mixer in the live-to-tape control room.  More information about the show can be found at www.carolinacooking.tv.

Recent Arts Community Involvement

League of Graduate Artists (2005-present), Treasurer (05-06), Webmaster (05-present)
Establishing exhibition opportunities for the graduate art students; applying for funding to assist in these endeavors; developing and maintaining the organization's website; and taking a leadership role in the development of a new graduate student art gallery, the Big Bend Contemporary.

Creating promotional photographs; assisting in hanging, installing, and lighting gallery exhibitions.

Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission (2001-2004), Co-Chair (2002-2004)
Worked on developing and implementing the Town of Chapel Hill’s Percent for Art Ordinance. Committee chair/organizer for SculptureVisions and Arts ‘Round Town programs. Committee member for Community Art Project, Budget Committee, Communications Committee, and various Percent for Art committees and selection panels. Photographer and developer of presentations to Town Council and outside organizations, as well as for promotional materials. Attended 2003 National Public Art Conference in Portland, Oregon and 2003 North Carolina Public Art Seminar in Greensboro, North Carolina. Made presentations about public art ordinances to Carrboro Arts Committee, Orange County Arts Commission, Cary Visual Art, and University of North Carolina Aesthetics in Society class. Community Art Project (2003-2007)
Founding committee member to this annual program of the Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission.  Created DVD slide show and web gallery for the 2004 Self Portrait Project, 2005 Dream, 2006 Lost and Found, and 2007 Why? exhibitions.

Women’s Prison Writing and Performance Project (2003-2005)
Video documentation for the Jordan Institute for Families program at the Raleigh Correctional Center for Women; promotional photographer to the group for newspaper articles, web site, and advertising.
